Parent/Carer Expectations of Use
Class and other WhatsApp groups operate independently of the school. Any information that is distributed through WhatsApp groups is sent via parents/carers in a personal capacity and may not always be factually correct. Official school information will always and only be communicated by Arbor, published on the school website or shared via our Facebook page.
Parents and carers should adhere to the following guidelines when using Class WhatsApps group:
- The group should not be used as a platform to air views or grievances regarding a staff member, child or parent/carer in the class or the wider school community.
- The group should not be used for private conversations with anyone else in the group.
- Members of the group should use it with mutual respect and sensitivity.
As per our Parent/Carer Code of Conduct, the school consider the following online activity inappropriate:
- Sending abusive messages to other members of the school community (this includes staff, pupils, governors or other parents/carers), including via text, email or social media.
- Posting defamatory, offensive or derogatory comments about the school, its staff or any member of its community, on social media platforms.
- Engaging in, or encouraging, malicious gossip, rumour or innuendo (this includes via message or on social media).
Raising Concerns
The school takes safeguarding responsibilities seriously and will deal with any reported incidents appropriately. If you are concerned about inappropriate comments on a class WhatsApp group, please contact a member of the Senior Leadership Team.
