Overview
School governors are ordinary people from the local community who wish to make a positive contribution to children’s education. They are the largest volunteer force in the country and have an important part to play in raising school standards. Governors are not involved in the day-to-day management of the school.
Almost anyone can become a school governor and you can find out more information here. All new governors receive training and support from Ivy Learning Trust and their fellow governors. If you are interested in assisting the school in this way, please contact governance@ivylearningtrust.org.

All governors are voting members of the Local Governing Board. Panels and working groups are established as needed, but there are no ongoing committees.
Maureen Gregory
Chair of Governors
I retired from The Department of Work and Pensions in 2021 after many years as a senior leader in Programme and Project Management and in Procurement. I have considerable experience of governance in the work environment and feel this is a skill set that I can bring as a Governor to Peartree School.
I have many interests in the community including singing with the WGC Rock Choir! I am a Dementia Friends Champion and a volunteer with the Alzheimer’s Society. I have an interest in helping WGC become a Dementia Friendly Community and have established links with WelHat Dementia Action Alliance. Peartree is my local JMI school and was attended by my grandson.
Megan Hardy
Headteacher
I am incredibly proud to be Headteacher here at Peartree. I joined the school in September 2022, and have enjoyed becoming part of our school community, getting to know staff, children and parents.
I believe that it is integral to consider our children at the centre of every decision we make, and strive to ensure that learning for our children is engaging and fun. We want to support all of our children to become confident, lifelong learners who are happy, respectful, tolerant and enthusiastic individuals. I am looking forward to leading Peartree through the next part of its journey!
Hollie Watson
Staff Governor
This is my fourth year teaching at Peartree. I have a background in Sports Coaching, running children’s sporting events and holiday clubs. I joined Peartree as a Sports Coach before moving into the role of classroom teacher.
I completed my teaching qualification earlier this year and am looking forward to developing my teaching skills further, whilst undertaking my ECT training.
I hugely enjoy being part of the Peartree community and feel privileged to teach curious, engaging and ambitious children every day.
I currently lead on Wellbeing for both staff and children across the school and also manage the school’s social media accounts, promoting events and engaging with our local school community.
By being part of the school Governing Body, I am hoping that I can support the continued development of all areas of the school.
Val Luckins

I worked for many years as a specialist speech and language therapist. Once I retired, after a few months break, I started coming into Peartree weekly to support children with their reading. I’ve really enjoyed getting to know the school and staff, and have now been a governor since September 2022. I would like to be able to use some of my experience and knowledge and be part of Peartree’s future. Besides, I have had four children, and now three grandchildren, so I still have a vested interest in the future of the education system.

Having come from a teaching background, teaching A-Level History and Access to Higher Education, education has always been important to me. Once becoming part of the Peartree community, due to my children attending the school, I became invested in the school more and wanted to help the school to be as amazing as it can be.
I am passionate about reading and writing and inspiring the minds of the next generation. I have really enjoyed working with the brilliant staff and seeing all the new and exciting things being implemented.
I have really enjoyed being part of the school community more and working with the staff to help make Peartree the place where young minds are inspired every single day.
Tone Oeiaas
Parent Governor
I have a background in retail management working with, and being responsible for, stores with staff in multiple counties. I am used to dealing with a range of challenges and requests. I have experience in creating strategic action plans to reach goals, while staying within the framework and taking into consideration how it will affect people and all areas of the business. This is something I hope to be able to transfer in my role as Governor at Peartree, gaining knowledge of details to see the whole picture and ensuring it will benefit pupils, staff and other areas of the school.
I am currently studying psychology and I’m committed to making the school the best it can be for pupils and staff. I care about the community and the children. I want to ensure they have the best possible foundation to pursue life with confidence and the academic skills they need to achieve their ambitions. I wish for our children to have a positive experience during their time at Peartree and I will work with the school to focus on the best outcome for all our pupils.
